Privacy Policy for Dhar

Dhar: Personal Debt Tracker (“Dhar”) is developed and published by BackspaceX. This Privacy Policy explains how Dhar handles information when you use the application.
Dhar is designed as a privacy-focused, offline personal debt tracking application. We aim to collect as little information as possible.
1. Information We Collect
Dhar does not require you to create an account or register to use the app.
BackspaceX does not collect, transmit, or store your personal debt records on our servers.
Information you enter into Dhar may include:
- Names of people
- Phone numbers
- Money lent or borrowed
- Repayment information
- Dates and expected return dates
- Notes associated with entries
- Other information you voluntarily enter into the app
This information is stored locally on your device.
2. Contacts
Dhar allows you to select a person from your device’s contacts to make adding a person easier.
When you choose a contact, Dhar may use the selected contact’s name and phone number to fill in the relevant fields.
Dhar does not upload your contacts to BackspaceX servers, does not synchronize your contact list with a remote service, and does not use your contacts for advertising or marketing.
You may also use Dhar without selecting contacts by entering names and phone numbers manually.
3. Financial Information
Information about money you lend, borrow, repay, or receive is used only to provide Dhar’s debt-tracking functionality.
Your debt and repayment records are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to BackspaceX.
Dhar does not connect to your bank account, mobile financial service, payment card, or other financial institution.
4. Notifications
Dhar may send local notifications to remind you about expected return dates or outstanding entries.
Notification scheduling is performed on your device. Dhar does not require a remote notification service to provide these reminders.
You can control notification permissions through your device settings.
5. Backup, Restore, and CSV Export
Dhar allows you to create backups and export data to CSV files.
These files are created at your request and saved to a location you select.
If you choose to share a backup or exported information using another application or service, the handling of that file will be subject to the privacy practices of the service you choose.
You are responsible for keeping exported and backup files secure.
6. Internet and Cloud Storage
Dhar is designed to work offline.
Dhar does not provide a Dhar cloud account or automatically synchronize your debt records with BackspaceX servers.
If you independently store a Dhar backup or exported file using a cloud storage provider, email service, messaging application, or another third-party service, that service’s privacy policy applies to the copy you provide to it.
7. Advertising and Tracking
Dhar does not use your personal debt records for advertising.
Dhar does not sell your personal information.
Dhar does not use your debt records or contacts to create advertising profiles.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Your Dhar data remains on your device until you edit or delete it, clear the application’s data, uninstall the application, or otherwise remove it.
Because Dhar does not maintain a cloud account containing your debt records, BackspaceX generally cannot recover locally stored information after it has been deleted from your device.
Backup files you have created separately must be deleted separately from wherever you saved them.
9. Data Security
Dhar is designed to minimize privacy risks by keeping your personal debt information locally on your device.
However, no device or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We recommend protecting your device with appropriate security measures and keeping any backup files in a secure location.
10. Children’s Privacy
Dhar is not specifically designed for children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through a BackspaceX account or server as part of Dhar’s core functionality.
11. Third-Party Services
Certain operating-system features or applications may be involved when you choose actions such as selecting a contact, making a phone call, sending an SMS, selecting a file location, or sharing a backup.
Your use of those external applications or services is governed by their respective privacy policies.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Dhar’s features or privacy practices change.
Any updated version will be published on the Privacy Policy page with a revised “Last updated” date.
